Alo Moves

Since COVID and quarantining hit our lives, at-home workouts have grown immensely in popularity. So when we were confined to our homes last year in March, I started using Alo Moves. And I am so happy I did. Alo Moves is an extension of Alo Yoga, the popular yoga wear and athleisure brand. It offers not only yoga classes for all levels, but also fitness classes and mindfulness activities, such as breath work, meditation and sound baths. This is also the perfect place if you are looking to improve certain skills, such as hand stands and other inversions, backbends or your flexibility.

With Alo Moves you’ll have access to thousands of videos from expert instructors in yoga, meditation, HIIT, barre, pilates, and more. You can use both the website and the free mobile app, both accessible with a yearly (USD199) or monthly subscription (USD20) (you can try the classes for free with a 14-day trial). The series come in a variety of styles such as Vinyasa, Strength, Yin and Flexibility etc. The series and classes come in a variety of experience levels that are suitable for  all yoga backgrounds. Video series can be accessed on your own time, completed at your own pace, and done in the convenience of your own home.  Some videos target specific concerns like tight hips, hamstrings or shoulders while others focus on strengthening individual muscle groups like your legs, arms and core. Even if yoga is not your thing, there are so many other workouts to do (but I doubt you won’t like yoga after having tried a couple of the beginner classes). Furthermore, there are quick classes of like 15 minutes and longer ones, of between 30-60 minutes, so the “I don’t have any time” excuse won’t work here. There is always a class to suit your level, physical need and time frame.

I tried other fitness apps before, but what I really like about Alo Moves is the way the instructors teach and explain and the variety of lessons. Whether I want to do some stretching, a more intense yoga session, or a HIIT training, I can find them all at Alo Moves. Even though the instructors are not with me in my house, they are very motivating and are able to send their positive vibes through the screen. Some of my favorite instructors lately have been Dylan Werner, Ashley Gavin, Jacy Cunningham and Patrick Beach. But I must admit, every time I browse through the app I find more series by other teachers that I am just dying to try out!
