There are many websites that provide useful information on sustainable living, toxic ingredients, the environment, protecting the earth etc. These are a few of my favorites. Although many of them are not restricted to one category, I have sorted them so it is a bit easier to oversee.

Toxic ingredients

EWG is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment.  

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics coalition, a project of Breast Cancer Prevetion Partners (formerly the Breast Cancer Fund), works to protect the health of consumers, workers and the environment through public education and engagement, corporate accountability and sustainability campaigns and legislative advocacy designed to eliminate dangerous chemicals linked to adverse health impacts from cosmetics and personal care products.

Plastics

The Plastic Soup Foundation wants to put an end to the increasing pollution of the seas and oceans with plastics. We want to prevent even more plastics entering the sea in the future.

Bye Bye Plastic Bags is a social initative driven by youth to say no to plastic bags.

The Last Plastic Straw is a movement to eliminate single use plastic at the source and a project of Plastic Pollution Coalition.

Conservation

The International League of Conservation Photographers is a U.S. based non-profit organization whose mission is to further environmental and cultural conservation through ethical photography.   Founded in 2005, our programs are built on the participation and contributions of our Fellows, an elite group of the world’s top wildlife, nature and culture photographers who, in addition to displaying remarkable photographic skills, have each demonstrated a deep commitment to conservation efforts around the globe.

Save Pangolins supports conservation efforts around the world and raises awareness about the most illegally trafficked mammals in the world.

Dolphin Project is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to the welfare and protection of dolphins worldwide. Founded by Richard (Ric) O’Barry on Earth Day, April 22, 1970, the organization aims to educate the public about captivity and, where feasible, retire and/or release captive dolphins.

Orangutan Outreach's mission is to protect orangutans in their native habitat while providing care for orphaned and displaced orangutans until they can be returned to their natural environment. We seek to raise funds and promote public awareness of orangutan conservation issues by collaborating with partner organizations around the world.

Saving the oceans

Project AWARE® is a global movement for ocean protection powered by a community of adventurers. We connect the passion for ocean adventure with the purpose of marine conservation.

Surfrider Foundation´s model is to engage environmental experts to create solutions, unite local and national resources to protect the coast, and leverage our local chapter network’s knowledge with a national perspective.

Lonely Whale is an incubator for courageous ideas that drive impactful market-based change on behalf of our ocean. Inspired by the power of community to create the change we need to ensure a healthy planet, we are working towards a new era of radical collaboration, together facilitating the creation of innovative ideas that push the boundary on current trends in technology, media and advocacy that positively impact the health of our ocean.

Led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue is uniting a global coalition to inspire an upwelling of public awareness, access and support for a worldwide network of marine protected areas – Hope Spots. Under Dr. Earle’s leadership, the Mission Blue team implements communications campaigns that elevate Hope Spots to the world stage through documentaries, social media, traditional media and innovative tools like Google Earth.

Blue Sphere Foundation works to safeguard the planet’s oceans, halting the destruction of threatened marine species and habitats. We go where there are urgent threats and critical resource gaps, and act quickly to establish the necessary groundwork for others to join in. We believe art and media are essential tools to spark curiosity and inspire action, and it is therefore an integral part of everything we do.
